In 2001, a commercial truck repair shop opened in the Airlake Industrial Park in Farmington, MN. The work was straightforward: repair commercial trucks properly, treat customers honestly, and do it consistently enough that operators came back.
That’s a harder standard to meet than it sounds. Commercial vehicle repair requires a specific kind of facility, specific equipment, and technicians who do this work every day. The shop in Farmington was built to meet that standard. Over the next two decades, it did.
By the time Jerald Stiele came to Farmington, Airlake had been repairing trucks in the south metro for more than 20 years. It had a reputation. It had a team. It had customers who counted on it.
Jerald Stiele didn’t come to Airlake looking for a building. He came because a well-run commercial truck shop with a real history and a trusted name was looking for the right next chapter.
That’s how Collision Center 1 grows. Not by acquiring square footage, but by taking responsibility for something that already matters to a community. The team stays. The work continues. What changes is the backing, the resources, and the long-term commitment behind it.
Airlake joined Collision Center 1 in 2026 as the group’s commercial and heavy-duty division. It’s now part of a five-location Minnesota repair group with roots going back to 1962. The 21,000-square-foot facility in Farmington remains commercial-only. That’s not changing.
Collision Center 1 started as Hopkins Auto Body in 1962, when Floyd Stiele rented a small building in Hopkins, MN and started repairing vehicles. The shop was roughly 700 square feet. Floyd built it one repair at a time, one customer relationship at a time.
His sons joined the business after him. Floyd’s grandson, Jerald, came back to the shop in 1996 after school and never left. He learned it from the inside, took on more responsibility over time, and eventually built Hopkins Auto Body into what Collision Center 1 is today. Jake Moser became his partner and co-owner through years of building the operation alongside him.
Together, they run a five-location repair group: four auto body shops serving the Twin Cities metro, and Airlake in Farmington for commercial and heavy-duty work. The group has grown, but the approach hasn’t changed. Community accountability, honest work, and a repair standard that doesn’t bend when the job gets hard.
